The Alphabet Club_Saturday Detention for U

                     IS FOR

                       ULURU

Yes, that great big rock in the middle of Australia!

And as you can see from this rather fuzzy diagram below, it is HUGE!

I have been privilege enough to visit Uluru in September/October 2014 and it is absolutely amazing!  Here are some more pics to show you (not mine but from the internet).

Beautiful, isn't it?

But did you know that recently, Uluru was like a waterfall?

Quite amazing, isn't it?

Of course, Uluru is a sacred site to the original inhabitants of this land, the Anangu people and the National Park is jointly managed by the Anangu and Parks Australia.

If you want to read and see more about this amazing place, please follow this link to the Parks Australia site - it is well worth having a look at.

Anyway, that is all from me for the Letter U but let me explain what The Alphabet Club is all about ....

It is the brainchild of Chiara from The Grey Tail and Jo from Serendipitous Stitching and is loosely based on the premise of the movie "The Breakfast Club" - you can see the button for The Alphabet Club on my right sidebar.

On the first Saturday of each month, members of the club have "detention" and have to post about something that will enlighten others about their culture (as blogland is so diverse).  Of course, there should/could be something stitchy in there, if possible (although I seemed to have moved right away from that premise as the months have gone by, instead focusing on boring you all with quirky facts about Australia - lol!)

Each month will be a different letter of the alphabet - hence the club's name - and, of course, we started with "A" and now we are up to "U".

The Alphabet Club

You can see everyone's Alphabet Club posts, here.

hugs,

Now this I have seen before. Never seen waterfalls though. Wow! I don't think I'll ever visit Australia in person, so it's always a treat to see what you post. :D

It must be a very inspiring moment to really see that majestic monolith in person. I envy everyone who has the chance to travel there.
Thanks for this interesting post, Kaye.

Incredible photos, especially the footage of the rain making waterfalls.
I'm enjoying your alphabetical guide to Australia and the fact that we're all doing different things for the SAL.
